Vibrant Colors Take Over Richmond Hill: The 38th Annual Phagwah Parade

On Sunday, March 29, the streets of Richmond Hill, Queens, were transformed into a sea of pink, purple, and green as the community gathered for the 38th Annual Phagwah Parade. Marching down Liberty Avenue, thousands of participants—including cultural groups like NYCD Desi—celebrated the Hindu festival of Holi, marking the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. The air was filled with traditional tassa drumming, Caribbean music, and clouds of colorful abir powder. The celebration culminated at Phil “Smokey” Rizzuto Park, where local leaders and residents joined for a cultural program showcasing the rich Indo-Caribbean heritage that defines the spirit of Queens.
